Obituary for Mildred F. Evans (Fjell)

Mildred F.  Evans (Fjell)
Mildred F. Evans, 93, a resident of Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield died on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born on February 1, 1921 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Carl and Hulda (Anderson) Fjell.

Mrs. Evans was employed at Shull Photography and Leitzinger Department Store. After graduating from the Peabody High School, she attended the Ad Art School, both of Pittsburgh, where she was able to hone her many artistic talents. Mrs. Evans enjoyed sketching, painting and all crafts; however, she was most proud of her heavy oil paintings of her grandchildren. She also had been an active volunteer with the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging and a member of the Friendship Club and S.R.A.C. She was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Thompson and husband Jeff of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Thompson and wife Melissa of Clearfield, Jody Thompson Collins and husband Doug of State College and Scott Evans and wife Shelley of Clearfield; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orison R. Evans on May 23, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard 'Dick' Evans; a sister, Margaret Howe; and a brother, Reynold Segerdahl.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, PO Box 550, Clearfield or to the charity of donor's choice.
