Obituary for Thomas N. Mullen

Thomas N.  Mullen
Thomas N. Mullen, 81, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born on November 10, 1933 in Woodland, a son of the late Russell O. and Claire (Mulhollan) Mullen.

Mr. Mullen was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and the Clearfield American Legion Post #6. After graduating Clearfield High School in 1951, he served his country as a US Army veteran.

Mr. Mullen began employment with United Airlines as a reservationist and then an agent at the Reagan Airport in Washington D.C. While working with United, he enjoyed traveling worldwide. Mr. Mullen became a licensed insurance agent and owned a Nationwide Insurance agency in Reston, VA. In his retirement, Mr. Mullen and his wife moved back to Clearfield and continued work in insurance as an inspector. It was this opportunity that allowed him the enjoyment of exploring Clearfield County and becoming an expert in locating hard-to-find houses and camps. As a retiree, Mr. Mullen enjoyed watching Westerns, discussing politics and playing the lottery. Above all else, he was a proud father of his four children.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (DiSalvo) Mullen whom he wed March 27, 1967 at St. Francis Catholic Church; and his children, Carla Mullen and her partner Walter Johnson, Peter Mullen, Joanna Mullen all of Charlottesville, VA and Amy and her husband Luke Giaccio of Arlington, VA; a grandson, Bruno Giaccio; a brother, Raymond Mullen and wife Becky of Clearfield; a sister, Karen Karjala and husband Larry of St. Augustine, FL; a sister-in-law, Joan Magistrella of Clearfield and a brother-in-law, Pio DiSalvo of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 am with Father John Miller as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

There will be no public visitation.
