Obituary for Bessie I. Funari (Shirey)
Bessie I. Funari, 80, of Frenchville died on Friday, March 6, 2015 at her home.
She was born on October 18, 1934 in Goshen, a daughter of the late Blair and Mary (Maines) Shirey.
Mrs. Funari retired in 2000 as the manager at the Best Western Hotel, Clearfield where she had been employed for almost 25 years.
She was a member of Dales United Methodist Church, Woodland.
She is survived by three children, Marjorie Wallace and husband Dave of Frenchville, Edward Duke and wife Terri of Womelsdorf and Eileen Curry and husband Gary of Spring Valley; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson; and a sister, Erma Voss of Clearfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nazzareno Funari on December 14, 1998 and whom she wed November 4, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Irene Duke; two grandchildren; one sister, Twila English; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Shirey.
A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 AM with Thomas Lenker officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Woodland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 South Second Street, Clearfield.
