Condolences

Condolence From: Barb Patrick Shedlock
Condolence: The Patrick family has known and loved Sr. Therese from the first start of her Young People who Care Ministry. My Bro Joe was one of the first groups of teens to work helping others at their homes. He loved working with the group. My Dad made the first swing for the porch of the old house on the farm. What a beautiful place to sit and pray. Our hearts are sad but we know she is happy in the arms of our Dear Lord. Her good works will carry on. Sister say Hi to our Mom and give her a hug from her kids.

Condolence: She was a wonderful person who influenced me all my life. Whenever I was down or in a difficult situation over the years.. I always remembered what she taught me as my confirmation teacher back in 1978... it gave me the knowledge to do the right thing.. She will be missed.. but always in our hearts... Now she is with our lord and always will be an angel watching over us.

Condolence: Sister Theresa changed my life forever. There are those few people in the world that bring peace to your soul just by being in their presence. She was that for me. When she reached out and touched your hand, to tell you that all would be well as God loved you, you knew it to be true. I mourn her loss, as I never got to say goodbye or tell her what a gift she was here on this earth, but I rejoice that she is resting peacefully in the arms of our Father. Well done you good and faithful servant.

Condolence: I learned of Sr. Therese's passing this week from fellow Tim Maida. I was saddened to hear of her passing. She was a shaker and a mover. Her contemplative teaching and lifestyle has helped me ignore the false self these last 20 years. And, to her memory I say God is also spoken of here. A strong hug/embrace to Karen, Sue and Ruth Anne. Press On! Xj, Monique and Alexandra Ortiz. On a funny note, I still have a hard time using cellophane wrap, as Sister was always against it. She said poor folks use lids.

Condolence: Sr. Therese was definitely an angel among us. I remember her teaching CCD classes at St. Mary's church in Frenchville from time to time. She was always able to hold our attention while teaching which I know could not have been easy. Many years later and not that long ago she was so very helpful in getting me through the loss of my father as well as other losses in my life. Her consolation and caring soul was immeasurable and I could have never got through it without her nor thank her enough for getting me through my darkest days. I will always remember her.

Condolence From: Rolland C. Coutinho
Condolence: My family and I are forever indebted to Sister Therese for her love, her faith, and her inspiration. I can honestly say that much of who I am I owe to her, especially her sense of hospitality, love, and welcoming. I will forever remember when I volunteered at YPWC in 1990 after finishing my Masters at Penn State. I had limited resources and the entire community went to Altoona to see Kenny Rogers in concert. I did not have the money to afford it and attend. I was forcibly told I had to go and the community covered the cost of the ticket. I was so touched by Sister's generosity, especially when I was young and poor. I will never forget that as long as I live. I hope to be half the person whom she eventually became. Please pray for me and my family Sister Therese. We love you and miss you! Rolland and Gracy Coutinho, Haddon Township, NJ

Condolence: Growing up in Karthaus the impact that she, and the staff at The Young People Who Care Center, had on my life can't be measured. Sister Therese was willing to answer questions, challenged me to think and listen, and lead a life of faith by example. I know that Sister is with our Father and will continue to challenge all of us to live a life of faith and service. Shelly Lawrence

Condolence: Sr Therese was a blessing, a gift to many, including me. I was blessed to know her, to love her. I like the comparison to the Baroness who I believe has been considered for steps for sainthood- for I believe that Sr Therese is a saint, smiling on us, with us in her new presence with God.

Condolence From: Fr. Jim Kennelley
Condolence: Sister Therese clearly worked very hard to witness the Gospel through gentle direction in the lives of thousands of young and old. She accepted challenges as being opportunities to enlighten the hearts of others by helping them to accept God's grace in all things. Those who knew her, had the unique opportunity to work with her, and especially those who shared life with her are grateful for her - and will certainly share their spirit with others. Though decidedly different from each other, Therese's life path also shares great similarity with the Baroness Catherine van Hook Dougherty at Madonna House in Cumbermere, Ontario, another faithful witness and Charistian community leader who touched the lives of thousands of 'young' pilgrims in Christ.
