Josephine A.  Galio (Valenza)
Josephine A. Galio, 91, of Clearfield passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 27, 1923 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late James and Sarafina (Unch) Valenza.

Mrs. Galio retired from McGregors Sportswear after being employed there for nearly 40 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and also the former Martha Washington Lodge.

She is survived by her two children, Donald A. Galio and wife Mae of Gaithersburg, MD and Sara Lynn Mayersky and husband John of Clearfield ; two grandsons, Michael Mayersky and wife Shannon of Woodland and David Mayersky and his fiance Julie Clarke and her son Julian of Clearfield; three great grandchildren, Dominic and Madelyne Mayersky and Sophia Mayersky; three sisters, Teresa Scarborough of Huntsville, AL, Florence Morris and husband Robert of Augusta, GA, and Sara Catalano and husband Victor of Clearfield; and a brother, James Valenza of Hanover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic B. 'Dom' Galio on March 8, 2002 and whom she wed May 13, 1944 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Jennifer Galio; a sister, Frances Evans; and three brothers, Charles, Joseph P. and Jack J. Valenza.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Thursday at 10 AM with Father John Miller as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 9-9:30 AM.

At the funeral home on Wednesday, a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 1:45 PM and the Rosary will be recited at 5:45 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield or the Clearfield Foundation for Health - Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
