Obituary for Joseph C. Mitchell

Joseph C.  Mitchell
Joseph C. Mitchell, 90, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home.

He was born on January 24, 1925 in Clearfield, a son of the late Jack and Julia (DiPiazzio) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Riverside (APA-102). After his service, he was employed by Harbison Walker Refractories for 45 years. Mr. Mitchell was gifted at hand carving wooden figures and always loved to garden.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys F. (Beck) Mitchell whom he wed on November 18, 1950; two sons, Dan Mitchell and wife Susan of Westover and Jim Mitchell and wife Dawn of Clearfield; nine grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, June Mitchell of MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Morgillo; and five brothers, Philip, Anthony 'Nin', Charles, Harry and Eugene Mitchell.

In accordance of Mr. Mitchell's wishes, there will be no public services held. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield.
