Obituary for Richard D. Greene

Richard D.  Greene
Richard D. 'Smiley' Greene, 87, of Woodland died on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

He was born on October 26, 1927 in Woodland, a son of the late Albert and Alice (Knepp) Green.

Smiley owned and operated Richard Greene Contracting and Richard Greene Trucking. He also operated an inspection station and inspected many local people's vehicles. Smiley drove racecars as a hobby. He enjoyed spending the winters in Florida with his wife.
He was a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (Turner) Greene whom he wed February 21, 1952; a daughter, Diana Leigey and husband Larry of Woodland; 2 granddaughters, Angela Thompson and husband John of Woodland and Jessica English and husband Matt of Morrisdale; two great granddaughters, Madisyn and Makenzie Thompson; and two sisters, Donna Smeal of Woodland and Dorothy Loddo of Curwensville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Greene; a great grandson, Alex Thompson; a sister, Pauline Welker; and two brothers, Darrell and Reese Green.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 10:00 am with Sam Maines officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts honor guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Saturday from 9-10 am.
