Obituary for Glenn F. Stone

Glenn F. Stone , 72

of State College died on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at his residence.

He was born on February 9, 1943 in Clearfield County, a son of Edith (Butler) Stone of Curwensville and the late George Stone.

Glenn was a 1961 graduate of Clearfield High School. While in high school he played football and wrestled, advancing to the state level competition. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the US Army from 1964-68. During that time he was awarded the Parachutist Badge, two combat Infantry Badges, the Air Medal and two Bronze Stars.
During Glenn's years of employment, he owned and operated Stone's Exxon in Center City, sold automobiles and mobile homes and drove truck.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and going to the casino. His biggest love was spending time with his family, especially his children and grand children.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jacqulyn L. (Baumgardner) Stone whom he wed October 28, 1967 in Clearfield; four children, Vance Stone and wife Kellie of Annapolis, MD and their children, Drew and Nick, Angela Icaza and husband Andy of Falls Church, VA and their daughter Gianna, Jon Stone and wife Michele of Valley Forge and their children, Kate and Jack, and Kim Sponsler and husband Aric of State College and their children, Devan, Jonathan and Avery.
He is also survived by a brother, Dennis Stone and wife Linda of Lanse, a sister, Barbara Bauer and husband Jerry of MN, a brother, Jesse Stone of IL and a sister, Fran McDaniels and husband Charles of FL; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harlan Stone.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front Street, Clearfield..
