John W. Maines Sr., 87, of Woodland died on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his home.

He was born on February 29, 1928 in Philipsburg.

Mr. Maines retired from Dick Corporation where he was a foreman and a superintendent. Working construction most of his life, he had been employed by the Mashuda Corp., Paylo Corp., Milano Corp., Rodger Bell Corp., and Rodger Aul Corp. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.
A U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was also member of Clearfield Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Louise (Moore) Maines whom he wed July 24, 1954 in Woodland; two children, Amy Kniss of State College and John Maines Jr. and wife Susan of Frenchville; and a granddaughter, Melorah Medzie of Bellefonte.

Mr. Maines was preceded in death by baby girl in 1958 and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 1:00 pm with Pastor W. Lee Casher officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM - 1 PM.
