Obituary for Mary Regina Hoover (Peavy)

Mary Regina Hoover, 90, of Karthaus died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at her home.

She was born on December 3, 1925 in Karthaus, a daughter of the late Howard G. and Julia R. 'Nan' (Rolley) Peavy, formerly of Karthaus.

She graduated from Cooper Township High School and later married Hugh “Hoot” Hoover. They made their home in Karthaus where they raised six children.
Mary Regina was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Frenchville and the Altar Rosary Society. She was employed as a Nutrition Aide through Penn State University for many years. She also helped organize and work with the Head Start Program in Karthaus as well as the 4-H Program.
She is survived by six children, Kathleen Hoover Piper and husband Wayne of Karthaus, Rosemary Hoover Workman and husband Richard of Clearfield, Michael Hoover of Karthaus, David Hoover and wife Rose of Clarence, Mary Beth Hoover Bamat and husband Craig of Karthaus and Victoria Hoover Sabol and husband Mark of Morrisdale; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ina Peavy Hugar of Franklin and Emily Kay Peavy Jury and husband Philip of Houserville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh 'Hoot' Hoover on September 27, 2007 and whom she wed September 30, 1944 in Frenchville; a brother, Philip E. Peavy and his wife Isabel; and a brother-in-law, Lee Hugar. She was also preceded in death by her wonderful grandson Matthew Sabol originally from Morrisdale.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. David A. Perry as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 4-6 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11 AM.

The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 6 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Karthaus Ambulance Service, PO Box 9, Karthaus, PA 16845 or St. Mary Catholic Church, PO Box 159, Frenchville, PA 16845.
