Josephine Rachel McCracken , 83, of Clearfield died on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.

She was born on June 17, 1932 in Flinton, a daughter of the late Melvin and Minnie (Mays) Hockenberry.

Mrs. McCracken enjoyed canning vegetables and cooking and baking for family and friends. She also took pride in raising her children and had attended the Cherry Corner Bible Church.

She is survived by four children, Elma Rougeux and Keith of Clearfield, John M. McCracken and wife Gail of Curwensville, Sharon Stiles and husband Jim of Clearfield and Joann Quade and husband Dennis of Clearfield; a daughter-in-law, Joann McCracken; ten grandchildren, Philip Rougeux, Jason McCracken, Gina Heichel, Beth Ann Shaffer, Elmie Johns, James Stiles, Todd Stiles, Steven Rougeux, Travis McCracken and Jennifer Martell; three step-grandsons, Mark, Brian and Bradley Spaid; several great grandchildren; and a sister Millie Ann Rowles of Glen Richey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee McCracken on December 24, 1994; her son, David McCracken; a grandson, J.R. Quade; three sisters, twin Pauline, Bertie and Irene; and five brothers, Billy, Buck, Toots, Clifford and Tommy.

All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Pre-School, 119 N. Second Street, Clearfield.

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville is in charge of arrangements.
