Obituary for Barry Albert Selner

Barry Albert  Selner
Barry Albert Selner, 71, of Curwensville died on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

He was born on October 26, 1944 in Clearfield, a son of the late Albert W. 'Benny' and LoDema 'Dema' (Irwin) Selner.

Barry earned his Master's of Science in Education and was employed for many years as a Math and Science teacher with the Curwensville Area School District. During that time, he was a football, wrestling and baseball coach. He also served as a Curwensville Borough Councilman. He attended First Baptist Church, Curwensville. Barry also enjoyed genealogy, leather work, wood working and stained glass work.

He is survived by his daughter, Della Selner of Scotland, PA and children, Lauren Kirkpatrick and Katherine O'Hara; his son Greg Selner of DuBois and children Danielle Schuler and husband David, Nicholas Selner and wife Nicole, Benjamin Selner and fiance Amber Bundy and Sara Selner; and his daughter Kristen Albert and husband Marcus of Dachau, Germany and their children Stephan and Isabelle Albert. He is also survived by four great grandchildren Victor M. Oquendo III, Abigail and Jack Schuler and Rylee Selner; a brother, Larry A. Selner of Curwensville; a brother in law, Richard Lansberry of Greenwood, IN and daughter Terri Barrett; a sister-in-law, Charlotte 'Tod' Selner of Keenesborough, CO and children Mike and Craig Selner and Lynelle Vogel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, N. Kay (Bartell) Selner on April 23, 2012 and whom he wed November 23, 1965 in Cumberland, MD; and a brother, Gary A. Selner; and a niece, Darlene Lansberry.

A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, on Saturday at 10 AM with Rev. Daniel M. Osterhout officiating.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9-10 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
