Mary S.  Johnson (Smeal)
Mary S. Johnson, 89, of Curwensville died on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield.

She was born on November 22, 1926 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late S. Alfred and S. (Evans) Smeal.

Mary had been employed with Bell Telephone Co. in Curwensville, Clearfield and Altoona, retiring after 30 years of service. She was a talented seamstress and gardener and also enjoyed ceramics, quilting and traveling. In fact, after her retirement, she had the opportunity to travel throughout most of the United States and many European destinations. She was a member of past member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church.
Mary's family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Colonial Courtyard for the care and compassion that was shown to Mary.

She is survived her devoted best friend, Chet Bailor of Curwensville; two children, Barbara Mann and husband Gregory of Westminster, MD and John Johnson and wife Judy of Valparaiso, IN; five grandchildren, Andrew Mann of Baltimore, MD, Dan Mann of Westminster, MD, Whitney Johnson of Chicago, IL, Nicholas Johnson and wife Tiffany of Valparaiso, IN and Alexis Johnson of Washington, DC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Johnson in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Mann; and a brother, Thomas Smeal.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday at 12 PM. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday 10 AM - Noon.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one's choice.
