Obituary for Russell E. Owens

Russell E. Owens, 87, of Woodland died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the UPMC Altoona.

He was born on December 21, 1929 in Woodland, a son of the late Merrill and Wava (Dixon) Owens.

Mr. Owens enjoyed farming in his early years. He then became a truck driver followed by being a supervisor at Midland Amosite. His last employer before retirement was Penelec at the Shawville Plant. Mr. Owens retired at an early age to enjoy traveling with his wife, being able to visit every state. He also liked being outdoors and was very fond of his tractors. Above everything else, family was the most important aspect in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine (Williams) Owens whom have been wed for almost 68 years; three children, Craig Owens and wife Sharon, Mark Owens and wife Ruth, and Eunice Libreatori and husband David, all of Woodland; four grandchildren, Derek Owens and fiance Jessica of Centre Hall, Lance Owens of Woodland, Brandon Owens of Bigler, and Lindsay Miller and husband Daniel of Schenectady, NY; four great grandchildren, Abrielle, Thane, Bennett and Madelyn; several nieces and nephews including two close nephews, Mark and Rian Dixon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Geynet Owens.

At the request of Mr. Owens, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of donor's choice.
