Obituary for Richard M. "Dick" Gabrielson

Richard M. "Dick"  Gabrielson
Richard M. 'Dick' Gabrielson, 97, of Clearfield went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

He was born on October 12, 1920 in Coalport, a son of the late Oscar and Mabel (Miles) Gabrielson.

Mr. Gabrielson was self-employed as the owner and operator of Dick and Bill's Super Service Station in Philipsburg. He was also a contractor for Bell Telephone for twelve years before retiring in 1984. In his retirement, Dick was employed at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home.

Dick was a member of the Clearfield American Legion, the United Commercial Travelers Philipsburg Council No 621 and volunteered at the Clearfield Hospital for many years. He was also a member of the 1936 undefeated football team at Curwensville High School. Dick was a member of Clearfield Alliance Church where he served as a board member and head usher for over 70 years. He had also served with the U. S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Elsie (Taylor) Gabrielson; three children, William Gabrielson and wife Connie of Morrisdale, Linda Stephens of Clearfield, and Terry Gabrielson and wife Beth of Clearfield; six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mildred Wheeler of Utahville, Arletta Bowers of Martinsburg, and Carol Krepps and husband Ronald of Acme.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Jack and Harry Gabrielson; one sister, Alma Jean Taylor; and a son-in-law, Don Stephens.

Funeral services will be held at the Clearfield Alliance Church on Wednesday at 12 PM with Pastor Robert Goldenberg and Dr. Duane White officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 11 until the hour or service.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Alliance Church, 45 Alliance Road, Clearfield, PA 16830.
