Our Philosophy of Service and Commitment to Quality

We are pleased to take complete responsibility for all aspects of a funeral service, from the moment the need arises anywhere in the world, to the ultimate disposition of the remains anywhere in the world.

Funeral services are held when and where you want them, including evenings and can be held at home. We can make arrangements to hold services in 'non-traditional' locations that are of a special significance to a family or individual.

We will meet with you in your home or our office to make arrangements at your convenience. We will thoroughly explain all of the choices available for the type of service you prefer, be it a burial, entombment, cremation or services out of town. We are experienced in all variations of services.

Our facilities are modern, comfortable and spacious. They are smoke-free and accessible to the handicapped. We do not disclose confidential information and we protect the dignity and privacy of each individual through extensive physical security precautions that prevent unauthorized personnel from entering certain portions of the building.

A Meaningful Memorial

It's important to recognize that funerals are for the living ... for those who will suffer the trauma of losing a loved one. It is through the funeral process that a number of emotional needs are met for those who grieve.

The funeral declares that a death has occurred. It commemorates the life that has been lived, and offers family and friends the opportunity to pay tribute to their loved one. The funeral is a rite of passage by which we recognize an important event that distinguishes our lives.

As funeral directors, we want to help you create the most meaningful ways of offering tribute to the life of a loved one. This will demand, at least for a day or two, your focus and your time. But the planning needn't be a burden if you keep in mind that the energy you expend now to create a personalized, inclusive ceremony will help you and other mourners in your grief journeys for years to come.

Involved in this planning, may consist of selecting a non-traditional location for a service, special displays, which may be photographs or other cherished effects, representing personal or professional achievements, hobbies, unique interests or talents.

For many, funerals are most meaningful when they involve a variety of people who had a relationship with the person who died. You might ask family or friends to give a reading, deliver the eulogy, share an interesting story of the deceased, play music or sing, or even help plan the funeral.

Continuing Care Service

Our service neither begins nor ends with the funeral. We continue to provide support services long after the funeral is over.

We have compiled our 'Continuing Care Guide' to assist the family in settling the affairs of their loved one. This booklet, which is given to the family, contains information, names, addresses and telephone numbers of various groups, organizations and agencies that may have to be contacted following the funeral service.

The agencies included are, Social Security Administration, the Veteran's Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor (Black Lung) and the Railroad Retirement Board.

Other areas discussed in the guide include contacting the life insurance company(s), obtaining certified copies of the death certificate, notifying the bank(s), contacting your lawyer, accountant or financial advisor, notifying credit card companies, fraternal organizations and your stockbroker. To further assist you, we have also included information on vehicle title transfers, real estate deeds, and your final tax return.

Grief Support Services

Grief is a natural response to losing someone who was important to you. Grief hurts, but is necessary. When a death tears your world apart, grieving is the process that helps to put it back together.

While grief is natural, it is also highly individual. Your relationship with the deceased along with other factors will certainly influence your grief. No one can tell you exactly how you will, or should, experience grief.

To help you better understand your grief, the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home has available a number of resources on this subject.

We offer a listing of local support groups, which are available to the public at no cost. We also recommend that you may find comfort in talking with close friends, clergy or other trained professionals. As always, the staff of the funeral home is available should you just need someone to talk to.

Our lending library is available to the public at no charge for those individuals who may find comfort in reading. At your request, we can provide you with a listing of the available materials. We will also deliver and pick up these materials from your home or office.

Speakers Bureau

Representatives of our funeral home are available to meet with community groups to explain any aspect of today's funeral services. We will gladly speak on topics such as advanced funeral planning and pre-payment of funeral expenses, cremation - what it is and what are your options, creative memorialization services, what to say when visiting friends at the funeral home and other related topics.
