Grief Support Services

Grief Support Services

Grief is a natural response to losing someone who was important to you. Grief hurts, but is necessary. When a death tears your world apart, grieving is the process that helps to put it back together.

While grief is natural, it is also highly individual. Your relationship with the deceased along with other factors will certainly influence your grief. No one can tell you exactly how you will, or should, experience grief.

To help you better understand your grief, the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home has available a number of resources on this subject.

We offer a listing of local support groups, which are available to the public at no cost. We also recommend that you may find comfort in talking with close friends, clergy or other trained professionals. As always, the staff of the funeral home is available should you just need someone to talk to.

Our lending library is available to the public at no charge for those individuals who may find comfort in reading. At your request, we can provide you with a listing of the available materials. We will also deliver and pick up these materials from your home or office.

Continuing Care Service

Our service neither begins nor ends with the funeral. We continue to provide support services long after the funeral is over.

We have compiled our 'Continuing Care Guide' to assist the family in settling the affairs of their loved one. This booklet, which is given to the family, contains information, names, addresses and telephone numbers of various groups, organizations and agencies that may have to be contacted following the funeral service.

The agencies included are, Social Security Administration, the Veteran's Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor (Black Lung) and the Railroad Retirement Board.

Other areas discussed in the guide include contacting the life insurance company(s), obtaining certified copies of the death certificate, notifying the bank(s), contacting your lawyer, accountant or financial advisor, notifying credit card companies, fraternal organizations and your stockbroker. To further assist you, we have also included information on vehicle title transfers, real estate deeds, and your final tax return.

Speakers Bureau

Representatives of our funeral home are available to meet with community groups to explain any aspect of today's funeral services. We will gladly speak on topics such as advanced funeral planning and pre-payment of funeral expenses, cremation - what it is and what are your options, creative memorialization services, what to say when visiting friends at the funeral home and other related topics.
