Obituary for Ann B. Mikesell (Blackburn)

Ann B. Mikesell, 84, of Clearfield died on Monday, January 21, 2019, at her home.

She was born on September 19, 1934, in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Robert O. and Helen (Hoover) Blackburn.

Ann was employed from 1952-1958 as a clerk at the Hyde Post Office as well as the former Hyde Grocery Store where she is still fondly remembered by all the Hyde 'kids' who first came for the candy and then just to see 'Annie.'

Upon marrying the love of her life, Donald R. Mikesell, on November 22, 1956, she relished taking up homemaking and raising her family of six kids. By nature, she was a caregiver to ALL but above all else, she was a WONDERFUL mother and grandmother.

She was a life-long member of the Clearfield Alliance Church. She also attended services at the Curwensville Community Baptist Church in Bloomington.

She is survived by six children; Jon C. Mikesell and wife Sue; Warren B. Mikesell, II and wife Kim; Annette D. Mikesell and Lloyd Dahlem; Kimberly S. Colavecchi; Robert B. Mikesell and wife Courtney; Janell K. Danielson and husband Chris; fourteen grandchildren: Stephanie Hankins and husband Spencer; Claire, Paige and Luke Mikesell, Warren Mikesell, III; Breann Kipple and her husband Adam, Kymberly and Levi Sanchez; Michaela, Carly and Cross Colavecchi, Raegan and Derrick Mikesell, and William Danielson; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Esther M. Neeper and Catherine Goodlin and a brother, Thomas Blackburn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald R. Mikesell on March 20, 2016 and a grandson, Michael Thomas Mikesell, whom she loved until the day she died. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bloom and Mary Lippert Thorp; and four brothers: Samuel, Robert, James and Richard Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society of Clearfield at 26 S. 2nd Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.

In accordance with Ann's wishes, all services are to be private and by invitation only.

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
