Obituary for Barbara Ann Jones (Leavy)
Barbara Ann Leavy Jones, age 81, of Erie passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022.
She was born in Clearfield, PA on August 2, 1940 the first child of Fred and Rita Leavy. After graduating from Clearfield Area High School, she attended Linden Hall in Lititz, PA. While there, she was able to pursue her passion of horseback riding and competed in equestrian events.
Barbara married Hadley H. Jones on February 20, 1960. They lived in a few different cities before settling in Erie, PA in 1972.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends sharing stories and laughs. For many years, she looked forward to her weekly bowling league and her monthly card games with “the girls in Bridge Club.” In more recent years, she enjoyed time and activities with the Red Hat Society. Anyone that knew Barbara, knew of her love of animals. She attended and was active at Wayside Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Douglas. She leaves behind her husband of almost 62 years, Hadley H. Jones; her daughter, Carolyn Warner; two brothers, Fred Leavy (Rose) and Robert Leavy (Teri); and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends who love and miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Clearfield on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11 AM.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 9-11 AM.
Memorial can be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA.
