Obituary for Brian J. Anderson

Brian John Anderson, 88, of Frenchville, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 13, 2021, with his wife of 44 years, Jackie, by his side.

He was born May 7, 1933, in Cambridge, England. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis Anderson, first wife Marian (Rougeux), and sisters Beryl and Joyce.

Brian is survived by his loving wife, Jackie (Hipps) Anderson; seven children, Lynette, Gregg, John, Brett, Amy, Mary, and Christopher; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was especially adored by grandchildren Kyle and Drew Harig of Columbus, OH.

After growing up in England during WWII, Brian immigrated to the United States on the Queen Mary in April 1951 and began a lifelong career in the automotive sales industry, notably at Ross Buick, Strattan Motors, and AutoMart. Brian was a life member of the BPOE Elks Clearfield Lodge 540, member of the Frenchville VFW, Clearfield SOI and was the last surviving member of the SNOBS. He was a volunteer for RSVP, Clearfield Historical Society, American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Advisory Council of the CCAAA.

After his retirement, Brian enjoyed working in his garden and was a voracious reader. He was known for his quick wit, love of cookies, and competitive spirit, particularly when playing card games and Words with Friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially the Frenchville VFW crowd.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Frenchville VFW on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 2-5 PM.

Special thanks to DuBois Nursing Home for their kind care during his brief illness.
