Obituary for Catherine M. Hess (Padisak)
Catherine M. Hess, 94, of Clearfield passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at her home.
She was born on December 13, 1926 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Stephen John and Teresa Helen (Cyprich) Padisak.
Mrs. Hess was a graduate of Curwensville High School, class of 1945. She had been employed at Eastern Molded and Piper Aircraft, Quehanna. She was an avid journal keeper, artist, and enjoyed gardening. She had learned to speak, read and write Slovak fluently and kept correspondence until the end of her life. She even had visited Czechoslovakia four times to visit family. Her greatest joy was sharing time and memories with grandchildren and family, as well as walking, hiking and building fires.
She was a member and was baptized at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville before moving to Clearfield and then became a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly (and Mike), Robert Hess and Susan, Cheryl Gilbert and husband David, Gregory Hess and wife Terri, and Douglas Hess; a sister, Josephine Hoover; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Washington Hess on April 22, 1989. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Mark Stephen Hess and John Sheaffer; and siblings Verna, Annie, Mary, Andy, Teresa, John, Helen, and Stephanie.
Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Friday at 10 AM with Rev. Brandon M. Kleckner as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday from 4-7 PM and on Friday from 9-9:30 AM.
A Christian Vigil service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 3:45 PM and the rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM.
