Obituary for James W. Reese

James W. 'Jamie' Reese, 53, of Karthaus passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his home.

He was born on May 1, 1969 in Bellefonte, a son of the late G. Philip Reese and Teresa (Rougeux) Potter.

Jamie owned and operated the Philip Reese Coal Company. He loved working and running equipment and riding his golf cart. He and Dorothy enjoyed having parties and spending time with family and friends.
Jamie was a lifetime member of the Karthaus Volunteer Fire Company where he held many offices including the Captain of Fire Police for several years. He was also a member of the Mosquito Creek and Sinnamahoning Sportsman Club and the Frenchville VFW Post 8386.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gaines; a son, A.J. Reese and wife Katherine of Frenchville; a brother, Joe Potter of Karthaus; two sisters, Linda Meeker and husband Bruce of Moshannon, and Janet Klees and companion Nelson Miller of Karthaus; in-laws, Carol Mostyn of Karthaus, Jerald Gaines and wife Beverly of Frenchville, Fred Gaines and wife Judy of Frenchville, and Alicia Gaines of Karthaus; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ava Watson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ann Potter.

Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Friday at 11:00 am with Fr. Samuel Bungo. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Karthaus.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-7 PM and on Friday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Karthaus Volunteer Fire Company, 10 Hurxthal Street, Karthaus, PA 16845.
