Obituary for LeAnn Marie Sedgwick
LeAnn Marie Sedgwick (Oskorip) died peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois after a brief illness. She went to be with her Lord at the age of 69 years.
LeAnn was born in Altoona, PA, on September 25, 1952 to John and Eva Oskorip and graduated in 1970 from Moshannon Valley High School. She attended one year of college at Clarion State College, now named Clarion University.
LeAnn was previously married to James Sedgwick in 1970 and raised four children in Curwensville. She enjoyed involvement in the schools and activities her children attended.
In 1989, she returned to college to complete her degree and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree with distinction in Extended General Arts and Sciences in 1993. LeAnn graduated with numerous awards and achievements she earned during her time as a college student.
LeAnn worked over twenty-five years in the fields of publications, public information, and public relations, until retiring in 2017 from the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging.
LeAnn was an accomplished quilter. Her hobby brought her opportunities to serve as a quilt demonstrator and earn numerous awards for her finished pieces at county and state level shows.
LeAnn was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Diane. She is survived by her four children, James (Sarah), Beth (Nick) Flynn, Michael (Brenda), and Stephen (Jordan); her grandchildren, Brett, Cole, Kayli, Bradley, Milly, and Max; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia.
Aside from her family whom she loved dearly, she is survived by her two cats, Phloof and Murray. LeAnn loved all animals, especially cats, and was a pet owner for most of her life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11 AM at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of service.
