Obituary for Malcolm E. Barnes

Malcolm E. Barnes, 92, of Curwensville died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his home.

He was born on July 17, 1928 in Ehrenfeld, a son of the late Charles and Elsie (Benson) Barnes.

Mr. Barnes retired from Curwensville Area High School after teaching chemistry for 31 years. He impacted many lives throughout his career.

He was Baptist by faith.

Mr. Barnes was President of the Anderson Creek Watershed Organization. He was also an NRA instructor, taught hunter safety courses, and taught civil defense for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean (Durbin) Barnes whom he wed December 21, 1953; four daughters, Elsie Robbins, Susan Wolf and husband Bill, Laura McGary, and Mary Davenport and husband Mark; two sons, Tom Barnes and wife Rita, and Donald Barnes; eleven grandchildren, David Robbins, Brian Robbins, Jacob Barnes, Andrea Barnes, Andrew McGary, Katie Waycaster, Nicholas McGary, Carlie Shutt, Sophie Davenport, Luke Davenport, and Samuel Davenport; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
