Obituary for Marie V. Garito (Shaw)
Marie V. Garito, 90, of Clearfield died on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Pittsburgh.
She was born on February 10, 1929 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Newton and Gertrude (Shimmel) Shaw.
Marie was employed all of her life. Most notable working for 22 years at Moore and Eshelman Insurance in Clearfield and later in the cafeteria of the Clearfield High School.
She attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
She is survived by her four children, Phil Garito and wife Lynne, Dave Garito and wife Bonnie, Diane Tyler and husband Rick, and Chris Garito; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, Philip and wife Shawna and their three sons Aidan, Oliver and Parker, Lindsay Hill and husband Chris and their two sons Greyson and Nolan, James, David and wife Pam, Michael, Ricky, Chris and wife Melinda and their four sons Chandler, Cameron, Bentley and Jackson, Sara, Nicole, Dominic, and Joshua; a sister, Jean Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic 'Peach' Garito on January 28, 2013 and whom she wed March 8, 1952 in St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Robin Garito; and ten siblings, Edward, Cecil, Howard, Naomi, Russel, Harold, Cletus, Donald, Esther, and Eleanor.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday at 1 PM with Rev. Mark S. Brower officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12-1 PM .
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1010 Dorey Street, Clearfield, PA 16830; or the Family House, 5001 Baum Blvd., Suite 545, Pittsburgh, PA 15213; or to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 310 Fisk Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201.
