Obituary for Ruth M. McCune

Ruth M. McCune, 95, of Clearfield died on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Dubois Nursing Home.
Born July 7, 1925 in Burnside Township, Clearfield County, she was the oldest daughter of the late Alden W. and Alberta M. (Yingling) Beck.

She worked for Mrs. Clark of Patchenville on their estate as a housekeeper where she met her husband Paul B. McCune of Cherry Tree, who delivered coal for the Clarks. Paul served in WWII after they were married July 10, 1948. They moved to Ohio and had two children, Sandra and Barry.

Ruth worked at Bailey Meter Co. until she retired. Her husband, Paul, retired from Parker Hannifin. As Paul was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, they moved back to Clearfield to be around family for support. He passed away July 17, 1988. They were married for 40 years. Ruth then got a job babysitting in Clearfield for Terri and Jeff Ogden, taking care of their two children, Ronnie and Kylie for many years.

In the 1980's, she was diagnosed with Dementia. Her son, Barry, lived with her and helped with care, along with her daughter, Sandra, and son in law, Rick. And a special mention of thanks to her long time caregiver, Linda Hutton. Kim Cathcart was also a very helpful family friend and neighbor.

Surviving Ruth is her daughter Mrs. Rick (Sandra) Young of Bigler; a son, Barry McCune of Clearfield; two brothers, James W. of La Jose and Alden W. of Cherry Tree; three sisters, Gladys Mitchell of Clearfield, Norma Davis of Cherry Tree and Dolores Pry of Cherry Tree; her granddaughter, Shona; five great grandchildren of Ohio; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepmother Violet (Lape) Beck; two brothers, Chester and Carl, both of Westover; five sisters, Helen Mulhollen of La Jose, Elizabeth Knight of Enola, Marjorie Hull of Clearfield, Regina Westover of Cherry Tree, and Alta Mae Brandt of Brookpark, OH; three grandsons, Benjamin, Bobby Lee and Barry Lee McCune of Ohio; a niece, Rhonda Beck; and two nephews, Kevin Brandt and Allen Beck.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville at 12 PM with Ronald A. Westover officiating. Interment will be in the East Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of services.
