Betty Lykens

Betty B. Lykens, 96, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

She was born on April 14, 1916 in Hyde, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Davidson) Lawhead.

Mrs. Lykens was a homemaker and had also been employed at Bell Telephone Co. as an operator.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield where she was involved with the Friendship Class. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the NON Club, the Clearfield Women's Club, and the ladies auxiliary of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf.

She is survived by two sons Lee Lykens and wife Donna of Clearfield and Ronald Lykens and wife Joanne of DuBois; five grandchildren, Brent Lykens, Kevin Lykens, Kristen Ryan, Dr. Nicki Lykens and Dr. Brandi Smith; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William P. 'Pint' Lykens on September 12, 2009 and whom she wed November 27, 1942 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield. She was also preceded in death by three sisters Lois Jay, Leona Scott and Alvera McCartney; and three brothers Clarence 'Pete', Theron and Gordon Lawhead.

Funeral services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Penney Rahm and Dr. C. Fred Ralston officiating. Interment will follow in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 1-4 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 N. Second Street, Clearfield.
