Byron P. Thomas , 68

of Grampian died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on May 1, 1944 in Grafton, a son of the late Ansel Byron and Jo Clair (Hicks) Thomas.

Byron was employed at the former Clearfield Cheese. He then began driving truck with his uncle, hauling clay and coal until becoming an independent owner/operator.
Byron's avocation was with aircraft, having obtained first his rotary wing pilot's license and later his fixed wing pilot's license. He enjoyed flying helicopters and airplanes.
He was a follower of Shepherd's Chapel, Gravette, Ark.

He is survived by his brother, David Thomas with whom he resided.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday 5 - 8 pm and on Tuesday from 10 - 11 am.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or to the Salvation Army, 119 Byers St., Clearfield..
