Drew Phillip Morgan

Reverend Father Drew Phillip Morgan, age 66, quietly passed from this world into eternal life on August 20, 2026.

Father Drew was the beloved son of the late Jack and Mary Morgan of Curwensville, Pennsylvania. Father Drew had six siblings: Jack (Sue) (the late Nancy), Tim (Sally), the late Terry (Louise) Scott (Cindy), Tracey (Bill) and Pat (Lana) along with numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom were privileged to have him celebrate their sacraments: Michele (Matt); Matt (Alecia); Kyle (Neil); Zane; Thayne; Sean (Paloma); Adde (Nathan); Aimee (Jarrod); Dan; Morgan (Jason); Carly (Richard); Brent (Jessica); Lindsey; Alex (Hannah).

After graduating from Curwensville High School in 1978 he attended the University of Pittsburgh receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, magna cum laude, in 1981, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He then received his Master of Divinity degree from the University of Saint Michael's College, University of Toronto, Toronto School of Theology in 1984. In 1997 he received a Doctorate in Roman Catholic Systematic Theology from Duquesne University.

Father Drew was ordained to the Sacred Priesthood at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh on May 25, 1985. He served The Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Pittsburgh for over 35 years enjoying Campus ministries, Parish life, community with his Oratorian brothers, the development and support of Rednal Retreat House in Ligonier and the National Institute for Newman Studies in Pittsburgh before later serving at Parishes in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

During his Priesthood Father Drew also served as an Assistant Professor, Department of Catholic Studies, at Duquesne University and Saint Vincent Seminary as an Adjunct Professor as well as serving on the Board of Directors of The Bethany Foundation, the National Board of Directors of the Venerable John Henry Newman Association, and was Chair of the Selection Committee of the National Conference, Newman Association. He had been a Catholic Chaplain for the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham College.

Father Drew was cherished and deeply loved by his family, friends and congregations. He was passionate and prayerful in his faith and guided many in their spiritual lives. We are left heartbroken and will miss his quiet intelligence and exceptional sense of humor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family.
