Edward D. Bloom, 74
of Curwensville died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born on October 1, 1938 in Curwensville, a son of the late Russel S. and Louise (Bickford) Bloom.
Mr. Bloom was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator in the strip mines for over 30 years.
He attended the Cherry Corner Bible Church, Grampian. He spent much of his time enjoying the environment by appreciating the beauty of the trees and clouds or by his love for hunting and fishing. Mr. Bloom had a particular interest in harvesting mushrooms and had a love for cooking, being known for his knack of grilling the perfect steak
Mr. Bloom served his country as a member of the U. S. Marines.
He is survived by his wife, Sibbie E. (Bensor) Bloom whom he wed January 29, 1959 in Curwensville; three children Lori Parks and husband Greg of Lumber City, Joyce Brion and husband Scott of Curwensville and Michael Bloom and wife Monique of Turkey; five grandchildren Erin Parks, Steve Blackburn and wife Becky, Joshua Blackburn and Janel and Lane Brion; two sisters, Phyllis Sylvis of FL and Rhonda Beard and husband Rod of State College; four brothers Dennis Bloom and wife Sharon of Curwensville, Howard Bloom of Lumber City, John Bloom and wife Debbie of Stronach and David Bloom and wife Connie of Clearfield.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Monday at 11 AM with Pastor George W. Solley officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-4 PM and on Monday from 10-11 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Corner Bible Church Camp, 155 Nellie's Road, Grampian, PA 16838.
