Glenave Chason
July 4, 1915 — September 8, 2020
Born on July 4, 1915, in Indiana, PA, Glennie completed her journey here on earth September 8, 2020 and is currently scampering around heaven getting the angels organized. Can you imagine the changes that a person 105+ years old has seen in her lifetime? Believe it or not, she lived through the pandemic of 1918 of Spanish Flu (Influenza) and dies during the COVID -19 pandemic of 2020 but not of the virus.
She married Kenneth (Micky) Jordan and they had a son Kenneth Lee, and a daughter Marla while living in a small town in Clearfield, Pa. Her husband was gone to serve in World War II for most of the duration, and she went to work. Soon after the war was over, so was the marriage, and she continued to support her children. Kenny and Marla had formidable careers and beautiful families, and Glennie renewed a friendship with an acquaintance and it blossomed into a very good and loving marriage. She and Wilson Chason lived in Ohio for several years and then moved to Lakeland, Florida.
Glennie always said that everyone celebrated her birthday by partying, parading and putting off fireworks. One of her favorite songs was Yankee Doodle Dandy, and she wanted it played at her funeral. Well, guess what? There are 3 versions downloaded and ready to fill the air with the music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the United States Army Band and Chorus, and an instrumental with the piccolo as the featured instrument.
My Mother was a very intelligent, independent, and strong willed individual who is literally the epitome of the description “feisty”(a person who is lively, determined, and courageous.) She had a really good sense of humor and a quick wit.
She was an animal lover, having had cats and dogs in her home most all the time. She always described herself as a “waitress” but she had many jobs in factory work, where her abilities most often put her in a supervisory role.
She was predeceased by husband Wilson Chason, two granddaughters, Joann Jury Scott and Cindy Jordan Proct, and several half brothers and sisters.
She is survived by son Kenneth L Jordan, Mahaffey, PA, daughter Marla Jury (Doyle) West Palm Beach, FL, grandchildren Kenneth A. Jordan, Georgetown TX, Diana Jury, West Palm Beach, Fl and Wendy (Mike) LaCroix, Peyton, Colorado, 8 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, also nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be help September 19, 2020 at 11am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield, Pa CDC Protocol for the service will be masks, and social distancing. There will not be seating so if you plan to attend and need a chair, please bring one. If you would like to speak, let Marla know at the service.
