Ivan Harper Hoover, 72, of Clearfield passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born on October 31, 1950 in Huntingdon, a son of the late Ivan Ellsworth and A. Jane (Detwiler) Hoover.
Lt. Hoover worked for the Pennsylvania State Police from January 1973 - January 2005. He was Troop G Crime Section Commander and also a contract investigator with MSM Security Services.
Ivan loved being a cowboy. He enjoyed horseback riding, traveling out west to work on ranches, and raising old barns. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Shiloh, and taking care of his horses.
Hoover served with the U. S. National Guard.
He is survived by his son, Tige R. Hoover of Fruitland Park, FL; a brother, Sheldon Hoover of James Creek; nephews, Brian Hoover and wife Amy of Everette, Shad Hoover and wife Renee of State College, Mark Schaukowitsch and wife Marilyn of Mars, Matthew Schaukowitsch and wife Laurali of Albion; niece, Jacqalyn Schaukowitsch of Butler; two sisters-by-choice, Lisa Conrad and husband Jeff, and Sue Brumlik and husband Peter; a treasured cousin, David Hoover and wife Linda; friends, Dave Himmelberger, Kim Kesner, and Robin Winslow; and all the Hoover cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Hoover; and sister-in-law, Betty Ann Hoover.
A memorial service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 4 PM. Interment will be at a later date in the Mount Pleasant Church of Christ Cemetery, Millerstown.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 PM.
