James F. 'Jim' Stalfa, 70, passed away on July 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 23, 1956, the son of James and Kathryn (English) Stalfa. He grew up in Frenchville and later moved to Pittsburgh, then lived in Mountain Top before moving back to Frenchville to build a house on his family's homestead.
Jim received his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Pittsburgh and then achieved his Master's Degree from Misericordia University. He worked at Verizon for 32 years where he started as a photographer and would later become a call center manager. He retired in 2015.
Jim was a Scout Master of Troop 433 in Mountain Top for many years. He was a member of St Mary of the Assumption Church of Frenchville, Mosquito Creek Sportsman's Club, and the Leigey-Renaud VFW Post 8386.
He loved the outdoors, especially riding his bike on trails, hiking, and canoeing. He also enjoyed photography.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Bergen) Stalfa whom he wed in 1978; two sons, Greg Stalfa and wife Margaret Haden of Pacifica, CA, and David Stalfa and wife Kristina Krause of Seattle, WA; granddaughters, June and Cecilia; brothers, Bill Haberl of TX, Tom Haberl of Bigler; and two sisters, Cathy Kolbe of Las Vegas, NV, and Cindy Stalfa of Frenchville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Haberl.
A memorial service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, June 9, 2026 at 6 PM.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 - 6 PM.
