James J. Stalfa, 82, of Frenchville died on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on February 9, 1928 in Newark, N.J., a son of the late James F. and Viola (Hettinger) Stalfa.
Mr. Stalfa owned and operated the Redwood Inn, LeContes Mills for more than 10 years. Prior to that, he was employed at Piper Aircraft, Co. from 1974-1983. He also served with the U.S. National Guard from 1958-1974, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.He was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Company in Eatontown, N.J.
He is survived by six children, William Haberl and wife, Jackie, of Hewitt, TX, Charles Haberl of Ocean, N.J., Thomas Haberl of Frenchville, Cathy Kolbe of Henderson, Nev., James Stalfa and wife, Elaine, of Mountain Top and Cynthia Lanager and husband, Robert, of Frenchville; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn G. (English) Stalfa, on January 7, 2002 and whom he married August 12, 1955 in Rumson, N.J., and a daughter-in-law, Janet Haberl.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew Finney officiating.
Interment will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW posts' honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 13, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 14, from 10-11 a.m.
