Jane Lee (Woolridge) Yare passed away peacefully at her home on January 18, 2026. Born on April 23, 1947, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Jane was the daughter of H. Rembrandt Woolridge and Mary Jane Lee Woolridge. She was a proud graduate of Clearfield Area High School, Class of 1965, and went on to earn her degree from Allegheny College of Pennsylvania in 1969. Jane held her years at Allegheny close to her heart, especially her participation in an independent study program funded by the Ford Foundation. Fondly known as "Jesse" by her adoring Gator classmates, she formed lifelong friendships and memories there.
An accomplished and passionate artist, Jane was deeply connected to the Susquehanna River Art Center of Clearfield (SRACC), where she was an active member and exhibited her work in numerous local shows. Her love of literature and learning also led her to serve on the Clearfield County Library Board. Jane was a long-time member of the Clearfield Kiwanis Club, dedicating herself to service, generosity, and the betterment of her community. Jane had a philanthropic heart, supporting many residents, charities and causes through the years, often giving anonymously and without recognition. Locally, Jane was perhaps best known as the organizer and enthusiastic champion of Hoodie Hoo Day in the Clearfield area-an annual celebration held on February 20th to chase away winter and welcome the coming of spring. It was her heartfelt wish that this joyful tradition would continue in Clearfield for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Rembrandt Woolridge and Mary Jane (Lee) Woolridge, her brother G. Ashley Woolridge, as well as her fiancé, John H. Spencer.
A heartfelt thank you to long-term caregiver Bonnie Mathews and her family for the love, dedication, and compassion shown throughout the years.
A woman of deep faith, Jane will be remembered with a memorial service to be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11 AM at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, 113 N. 3rd St., Clearfield, PA 16830 with Fr. Marc Soloman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Susquehanna River Arts Center of Clearfield, the Clearfield Library, the Children's Aid Society, or a charity of your choosing through the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation. In addition, and in Jane's honor, Clearfield residents are encouraged to celebrate Hoodie Hoo Day, by blowing noisemakers, clapping, shouting and giving back on February 20th to help chase winter away-just as Jane would have loved.
