Jerome 'Jerry' Bickel

February 23, 1954 — June 21, 2025

Jerome D. 'Jerry' Bickel, 71, of Clearfield, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh.

Jerry was born February 23, 1954, the son of Retha (Ogle) Bickel and the late Jerome E. Bickel.

Jerry was employed by the Mid State Amusement Co. for 40 years in the position of sales and service of small games of chance and amusements and vending machines. He serviced social establishments and fraternal clubs in Clearfield, Elk and Cameron Counties. Jerry valued the longtime friendships that he made through the years at each location.

In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt, and enjoyed going to camp. He was a longtime Pirates and Steelers fan. Jerry loved baseball and played the game through his youth beginning with Clearfield Little League. Jerry attended Clarion University where he played college baseball for Clarion in the position of catcher. He continued his love of the sport when he returned to Clearfield as he played fast-pitch softball on area league teams for many years, including with the Jim's Sports Center and Moyer's Auto Body teams.

Jerry was an original member of the 'Over 40-past your Prime' softball tournament committee for over 20 years, and relished the camaraderie of all those taking part. Each year, he looked at it as a reunion of good people.

Jerry was a member of the directors of the 4-Miles Road Camp Association for many years, most recently in the position of treasurer. He was also a member of numerous fraternal organizations, including the Clearfield Elks, Clearfield Eagles, Clearfield SDOI, Clearfield American Legion, Clearfield VFW, Curwensville Moose, and the Curwensville VFW, just to name a few.

He is survived by his mother, Retha (Ogle) Bickel; his twin brother, Larry Bickel and wife Dina; his big brother, Allen Bickel and wife Diane; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion and life partner, Andrea Faranda.

Jerry is preceded in death by father, Jerome Bickel; and a younger brother, Brian Bickel.
