Jessie Gearhart

August 9, 1930 — January 15, 2019

Jessie Elizabeth Gearhart, 88, of Curwensville died on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born on August 9, 1930 in Curwensville, a daughter of the late Robert R. and Mary Alfretta (Way) Bloom.

On February 23, 1950, she married Donald Everett Gearhart who preceded her in death on March 4, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers, and her sister, Margaret (Bloom) McFadden.

She is survived by her five children: Donald E. Gearhart and wife Susan of Freeport, PA; Gail Weyandt and husband Patrick of Dunlo, PA; Victor E. Gearhart of Curwensville, PA; Glenn R. Gearhart and partner Vicki Bosak of Curwensville, PA; and Mary Ann Bellmore and husband Jeff of Lumber City, PA. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: George Gearhart of Venice, CA; Dennis and Jordan Gearhart of Darlington, SC; Darren Leu of Baltimore, MD; Jamie (Weyandt) and Dan Ulevich of Nashville, TN; Stacy (Weyandt) and Greg Novak of Windber, PA; Nicholas Weyandt of Dunlo, PA; Anne (Weyandt) and Trevin Beyer of Pittsburgh, PA; Susan (Gearhart) and Matt Kalgren of State College, PA; Sarah (Bosak) and Joe Straw of Wilmington, NC; Nicholas Bosak of Hyde, PA; Anthony Bellmore and fiance Tina Conway of Charleston, SC; and Bridget (Bellmore) and Dominic Carmeci of Williamsport, PA.

Dear to her heart, too, were her great grandchildren; Garrett, Grayson, and Gabriel Novak; Taylor and Brooke Kalgren; and Henry and Hadley Straw.

Throughout her life, Jessie was devoted to the Grace Lutheran Church, serving in numerous positions including church council, WELCA officer, and even organist. Music was a great part of her life, and she always had a song in her heart.

If asked, Jessie, humble to the end, would most likely describe herself as a simple homemaker but she was so much more than that. She worked outside the home as a bookkeeper for several different companies, including her husband’s business, Curwensville Construction Company. More importantly, she was a friend to anyone in need. Her gentle ways and warm smile reflected the love she felt for everyone she knew.

Private burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde. No public services will be observed at this time; however, a Celebration of Life memorial will be held on a future date at Grace Lutheran Church in Curwensville.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 406 Pine St., Curwensville, PA 16833

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville is in charge of arrangements.
