Joan A. Shaw, 90, of Turtle Creek, PA, formerly of Frenchville, died on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield.
She was born March 19, 1935 in Karthaus, the oldest daughter of the late Russell and Grace (Rougeux) Renaud.
Joan graduated from Clearfield High School in 1953. She attended St. Vincent's School in Erie where she became a Registered Nurse. She was a nurse for 55 years and worked at hospitals in the Pittsburgh area including Braddock and Forbes. While working at Braddock, she worked in labor and delivery and the nursery. She taught one of the first Lamaze classes while there.
She enjoyed helping with Meals on Wheels, playing golf, and loved gardening. She was also an avid hunter. In 1982 she obtained her private pilot's license.
Joan was a memeber of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Frenchville and St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Turtle Creek.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Shaw on July 10, 1992 whom she wed October 8, 1960 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Frenchville. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Billotte and her husband Kenneth, and Patricia Irvin and her husband Howard.
She is survived by 6 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11 AM with Fr. Marc Soloman officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 64 St. Mary's Lane, Frenchville, PA 16836; or the Lecontes Mills Fire Company 21, 9064 Gillingham Road, Frenchville, PA 16836.
