Joanne Fitzmaurice

Joanne M. Fitzmaurice, 80, of Clearfield died on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield.

She was born on July 27, 1941 in Cleveland, a daughter of the late John P. and Grace (Carroll) Fitzgerald.

Joanne graduated in 1959 from Regina High School in Cleveland, OH and attended Notre Dame College of Cleveland, OH. She was employed at the Clearfield Area School District for 17 years where she was responsible for the tutoring program. She was a volunteer with Marian House and LifeLine for 40 years. She was recognized as Volunteer of the year after donating over 400 hours to Marian House and Lifeline. She was on the Young People who Care Board of Directors for eight years.

She was a devoted member of St. Francis Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister at Mountain Laurel. She sang in the Resurrection, Folk, and church choirs. She volunteered in the school cafeteria and the library while her four children attended there. She was also involved with the Altar and Rosary Society.

She traveled out west five times, Florida many times, several foreign countries including two trips to Ireland, and was on five cruises. She was a very nice person to be with, a good listener, pleasant, calm, courteous, friendly and kind toward everyone, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed very very much.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Fitzmaurice, Sr. whom she wed on November 11, 1962 at St. Lewis Church in Cleveland; three children, Kathleen M. Koehler and husband Michael of Erie, Karen A. Michaux of Pittsburgh, and Patrick R. Fitzmaurice and wife Debbie of Chagrin Falls, OH; a daughter-in-law, Nancy A. Walsh and husband Joseph of Erie; twelve grandchildren, Justine Kong and husband Kang, Mary Grace Fitzmaurice, Jonathan Fitzmaurice and wife Brandi, Allison Fitzmaurice, Brandon Koehler, Joshua Koehler, Matthew Michaux, Jr., Bridget Fitzmaurice, Molly Fitzmaurice, Erin Fitzmaurice, Colin Fitzmaurice, Claire Fitzmaurice; a great grandchild, Maia Kong; a sister, Mary Grace Sanders of Allentown; a brother, John A. Fitzgerald of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert J. Fitzmaurice, Jr.; a son-in-law, Matthew Michaux, Sr.; and two brothers, James and Robert Fitzgerald.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 1:30 PM with Msgr. Henry Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 10 AM - 1 PM.

A Christian Vigil service will be held at the funeral home on at Wednesday at 9:45 AM and the Rosary will be recited at 11:30 AM .

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Young People Who Care Ministries, PO Box 129, Frenchville, PA 16836; or to the St. Francis School, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
