John Hamm

John Shannon Hamm, 54, of Hepburnia died on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at his home.

He was born on October 17, 1957 in Clearfield, a son of the late James and Sara (Appleton) Hamm.

John was a 1975 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and received his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University, DuBois Campus in 1977.
He was a carpenter by trade, working with various construction companies. He most recently was employed with Jay Lucas Construction.
John had a love for basketball along with many other hobbies including hunting, fishing, riding his four wheeler, woodworking and being an alumnus of PSU he was an avid Penn State football fan.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Wood) Hamm whom he wed October 19, 1985; a daughter, Shannon Bratton and husband Gary of New Wilmington; two sisters, Sharon Fales and husband David of Apollo Beach, FL and Ferne Kisner and husband Tom of Woodland; his mother-in-law, Rosella (Pontefract) Wood of Hepburnia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Gust J. Maderia Jr. and Rev. Leslie Bloom co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 1- 4 pm and on Monday from 10 - 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to UPMC Mercy Inpatient Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury, 1400 Locust Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or to the charity of one's choice..
