Kathleen A. 'Kathy' (Hoover) Piper, 79, passed away surrounded by her family on June 5, 2026, at her home.
She was born March 14, 1947 in Philipsburg, the daughter of Hugh and Mary Regina (Peavy) Hoover.
Kathy worked in healthcare for many years as a personal care aid. She was a faithful member of the St Marys Catholic Church and active parishioner until her illness.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She devoted her life to her family and helping others. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially hosting Thanksgiving dinner and vacationing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
She was the beloved wife of Wayne R. Piper whom she wed September 5, 1987 and shared almost 40 years of marriage. She is also survived by two children, David W. Shadeck, and Jennifer (Michael) Spotts; step-children, Stefan (Rebecca) Piper, Denise (Joe) Kent, Betina (Gerald) Fazekis, and Pamela (Lonnie) Goodrum; 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Barnyak, Jeremy Piper, Shane Reiger, Dylan Reiger, Harley Goodrum, Aliyah Goodrum, and Steven Fazekis; and siblings, Michael Hoover, David (Rose) Hoover, Rosemary Workman, and Vicki (Mark) Sabol.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph B. Shadeck; sister, Mary Beth Bamat; and nephews, Matthew M. Sabol, and Harold 'Don' Whipple.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 64 St. Marys Lane, Frenchville, PA 16836 on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 1 PM with Fr. Pius officiating.
There will be no visitation, but friends and family are invited to attend the Mass and luncheon at the social hall to follow.
