Kirk A. McCorkle, age 69, passed away surrounded by family on May 2, 2026 at Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
The son of the late Richard and Rosemary (Cole) McCorkle, he was born July 23, 1956 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
A 1974 graduate of Clearfield Area High School, Kirk served his country in the United States Navy for four years, serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga from 1975-1979, where he traveled the world, visiting places like Egypt and Italy during his service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Burton Teddy Maines; his father-in-law, William 'Bill' Winters; and sister-in-law, Diane (Winters) Bodle.
He is survived by his beautiful bride of 46 years, Cynthia Cindy McCorkle, of Kylertown; two daughters, Amanda (Sean) Riggleman, of Carlisle, and Jessica (Brandon) McCorkle, of Clearfield; one son, Mark (Jennifer) Lockett, of Lake City; two grandchildren, Evan and Ellie Lockett, of Lake City; three sisters, Marjorie 'Marge' (Cub) Stewart, of Curwensville, Jennifer (Rob) Bailey, of West Decatur, and Karla (Steve Mease, of Lake Wales, FL; sister-in-law, Andrea 'Andi Winters, of Lanse; and many other beloved family members.
Married on November 29, 1980, Kirk and Cindy relocated to Tulsa, OK, where Kirk attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics before moving back to Clearfield, PA in 1983 and starting a family with the birth of their first daughter, Amanda, in 1990, and their second daughter, Jessica, in 1991. Kirk spent his career in engineering and bridge/road inspection before retiring in 2016.
Kirk was a fierce girl-dad and did everything he could to ensure that his daughters grew up in a loving and accepting household. Many of his daughters' friends ended up part of the family as 'adopted' children because of this and he loved them as if they were his own.
Kirk loved coloring, listening to music, and taking long rides out in the countryside with his dog, Roxanne, which he routinely referred to as 'going to church'. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and kind eyes.
Friends and family will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory in Clearfield, PA on Friday, May 8th, from 4pm - 7pm and on Saturday, May 9th, from 10am - 11am. A memorial service celebrating Kirk's life will be held thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Kirk's memory to the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, 113 N 3rd St, Clearfield, PA 16830, to help offset memorial costs.
