Larry Evan Wurster, 88, and a longstanding member of the Clearfield Community, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

He was born October 17, 1937, in Jersey Shore, the son of Lorenzo E. and Alma L. (Ergott) Wurster.

Larry moved with his family to Clearfield when he was seven. Clearfield became his home. He made many friendships and memories. He became a fan of Clearfield Bison football and wrestling. He was a volunteer fireman and member of the Third Ward Hose Company for 50 years. He also coached the Clearfield Dairy little league team, where he left a livelong impact on the players he coached. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1956.

He joined the U.S. Army Military Police Command in June 1956 in Fort Gordon, Georgia and then served the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1962.

Larry worked as a sheet metal worker for Tafco upon his return to Clearfield until 1989. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 12. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Altoona Consistory.

Larry expressed his Christian faith in many ways including dedication to church service. He was a 50-year member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church. There he served as Head Usher, Elder, and Deacon. He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee and on various committees. His marks of faith were his congeniality, devotion to his wife of 63 years, loving his family, and helping others.

Larry enjoyed his retirement by cooking in his kitchen. He always prepared elaborate Holiday meals and family breakfasts. He also remained active with the lodge-attaining recognition for 60 years of membership. He served as Treasurer of the Clearfield High School Class of 1956 Reunion Committee. He traveled throughout Pennsylvania to see friends and family. He made sure that the family vacationed at Ocean City, NJ annually. When fall came, Larry showed his love of Penn State Football by watching every game.
