Linda Dawn Winters

December 27, 1979 — May 1, 2025

CLEARFIELD, Pa. - It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Linda Dawn (Roussey) Winters, friend to hundreds, mentor to dozens, and admired and respected by everyone who knew her. She was called home on May 1, 2025 at the age of 45.

She was born on December 27, 1979, the daughter of Linda (Dale) Picard and Daniel Roussey.

Dawn was a notable, award-winning journalist, published author, cherished daughter, mom, and wife, and friend to many. She was a prolific writer and resonating storyteller.

She was a 1998 graduate of Clearfield Area High School and a 2003 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Journalism.

While she worked in many professions her passion was her work in media, both in print and broadcast. She was dedicated to truth in reporting and the free press. She made many contributions to the field of journalism and was revered by her colleagues and the aspiring journalists she trained over the years.

She began her career at the young age of 15 as on-air talent for WOKW. In 2006, she was instrumental in starting the first web-based daily newspaper in Pennsylvania, GANT News, where she served as Founding Editor, and later as Chief Consultant at the time of her passing. Subsequent employers included SBC Media Partners where she served as a News Anchor, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as Safety Press Officer, and Penn State University, as an IT Training Specialist.

If there is one characteristic that Dawn embodied, it was determination... No matter what the challenge or request, she was impetuous and gave her all to ensure she exceeded all expectations whether for herself or others.

She leaves behind the love of her life, Tim Winters, whom she wed on September 25, 2019, and daughters Isabella (Bella) Walls and Morgen Turner.

She will also be dearly missed by her parents, Linda and Dale Picard, and Daniel Roussey; a brother, Chase Roussey; grandmother Ellie Tussey; aunts, Barb Ettaro (Andy) and Tina Meeker-Moore (Bob Hahn); an uncle, Lee Meeker (Missy); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Isabel "Gram" Walker, Beatrice Picard, Bruce "Pappy" Meeker, and Merle and Lamar Roussey, and Ron Tussey.

Friends will be received at Beardsley Funeral Home, 113, North 3rd Street, Clearfield, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, and on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Officiant Shawn Wilson will preside over a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Allegheny Spay and Neuter Clinic, P.O. Box 97, Woodland,PA, or The Community Clothes Closet, 33 Bigler Road, Bigler, PA.

"You lived by your words- and your words will live on because we are going to carry them with us, always. We will keep telling meaningful stories because you taught us how."
