Martha Helen Peterson

Martha Helen Peterson, 90, of Clearfield went to be with the Lord, on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born on October 15, 1930 in Bigler, a daughter of the late Wesley A. and Mary Francis (Lumadue) Shimmel.

Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She was a member of Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church and also of the CAST writers group. Mrs. Peterson will be fondly remembered for her love of writing poetry and books. She was very proud to have authored a children's book 'Old Camel's First Christmas' that was published. She also enjoyed teaching the MYF Youth at Trinity Methodist Church and was a Children's Evangelism teacher in her home .She was involved with art and photography for pleasure and assisted a fundraiser for the local library with photo shots of Clearfield businesses and homes.

She is survived by three sons, Dr. Andrew J. Peterson and wife Lynnette of Matthews, NC, David Peterson and wife Jill of Rockton, and Joel Peterson and wife Cindy of Clearfield; twelve grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; two sisters Pauline Shirey of Champion, and Mary Jane Wisor of Accident, MD; a son-in-law, Thomas Krulick and wife Ursula of Allentown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Peterson on May 19, 2011 and whom she wed April 27, 1951. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ellen Peterson Krulick; brother, Emery Shimmel and a sister Evelyn Graham.

Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield on Monday September 13, 2021 at 1 PM with Pastor Derek Miller officiating. Private interment will be in the Styers Cemetery (the former Crown Crest Memorial Park) in Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home Monday September 13, 2021 from 11 AM. until the hour of services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church, 602 West DuBois Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801; or to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S Front St, Clearfield, PA 16830.
