Michael W. Spencer

Dr. Michael W. Spencer, 74, passed away on May 18, 2026, at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born December 10, 1951 in Kittaning, the son of Daniel C. Spencer Sr. and Betty J. (Thomas) Spencer.

Michael was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister; The National and PA Principal's Associations; the International Reading Association; and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development; and served on the Clearfield Area School District School Board for 17.5 years.

Dr. Spencer taught at the Butler Area School District for 16 years before moving to Clearfield in 1990 and becoming the Assistant Principal at the former Clearfield Middle School until 1993. He then served as the Director of Instruction and Personel from 1993-1998 and then became Principal at the Clearfield Elementary School for many years. Dr. Spencer also served as Principal at St. Francis School for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife Edna C. (Macaspac) Spencer, whom he wed January 4, 1995 in the Phillipines; two children, Michael W. Spencer Jr., and Katrina N. Spencer; two brothers, Daniel Spencer and wife Linda, and Thomas Spencer; a niece, nephews, and great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel C. Spencer Sr. and Betty Spencer; and a sister-in-law, Kim Spencer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said by Fr. Robert Horgas at the St. Francis Catholic Church on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10 AM

Friends will be received at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Endowment Fund, 212 S Front St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
