Raymond T. “Junior” Caldwell, a longtime resident of Clearfield, died on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehab Center. He was 83.
Junior was born on June 19, 1938 in Mount Vernon, NY to Raymond Sr. and Ruth Caldwell. His mother died when he was a newborn, and he was reared in the home of his grandparents, George and Pearl Tinsley Caldwell.
He was educated in Clearfield, PA and was known for his pitching speed with the Clearfield High School baseball team. Junior left high school and joined the Army, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam era. After his discharge, he spent several years in New York, before returning to Clearfield, where he operated J.R.’s body shop. Junior will be remembered for his love of Jaguar cars and sports.
He is survived by his uncle, Earl Caldwell and devoted nieces and nephews: Joyce Easter, Dorothy (Dave) Snyder, Michael House, and Mark (Sandra) House, all of Mount Union, PA, Steven (Buffy) House, Dianne (Neil) Barben, and Kathe (John) Posey of Huntingdon, PA and Margie (Thomas) Squier of Spring Valley, CA. He is also survived by Caldwell and McCoy cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Margaret Caldwell House, uncles, William and Nate, aunts Joetta Caldwell and Mildred Holly, and a beloved niece, Carol House.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
