Robert H. Gilliland

Florence, Arizona – Robert H. “Bob” Gilliland, 82, of Florence, AZ passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 at his home. Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1943 to William S. and Elizabeth (Burns) Gilliland, he was proud of his Pennsylvania roots (Go Penn State!).

Bob graduated from Clearfield High School in 1962 and shortly thereafter began his lifelong commitment to his country and public safety when he proudly served in The U.S. Marine Corps 1962-1966 as a Sergeant during the Vietnam ERA. After his military service, he proudly served 27 years with The Montgomery County Maryland Police Department. While with the police department he earned a degree in criminal justice from The University of Maryland.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a son, Peter Michael Gilliland, a brother William H. Gilliland, and a sister Barbara Farabaugh. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jackie (Pontillo) Gilliland and two daughters, Elizabeth M. Gilliland McLean (Matthew) and Laura McCarthy Bourgerie. Additionally, seven grandchildren: Kahla Reese (Rathdrum, ID), Logan McLean (Plano, TX), Kelly McCarthy (Chesapeake, VA), Carter McLean (LIC, NY), Savannah Gilliland (Clearwater, FL), John “Jack” McLean (Clearfield, PA) and Olivia “Libby” McLean (Clearfield, PA) and three great-grandchildren: Emma, Avery, and Aurora (Chesapeake, VA).

There will be no public viewing or services. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
