Robert Mccartney

Robert J. McCartney, 88, of Grampian died on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at his home.

He was born on February 19, 1928 in Grampian, a son of the late Thomas L. and Dellaphine (Clark) McCartney.

Mr. McCartney retired from North American Refractories Company of Curwensville in 1990 after thirty nine years. A veteran of Korean War, Mr. McCartney served with the US Navy from 1951-1955.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Grampian.

He is survived by Doris; two daughters, Sharon Fetchu and husband Mike of Madera and Sheila McCartney of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Jim Fetchu, Mike Fetchu, Ann Fetchu, Charlie Lechner, Mary Lechner and Ruth Lechner; one great granddaughter, Lindsay Fetchu; the following siblings, Richard McCartney and wife Janis, John McCartney and wife Bessie, Charles McCartney and wife Mary, Mary Jane Crandell, Alice Del Grippo and husband Rocko, Margaret Proud, Patricia Shaw and husband Jan and Thomas McCartney and wife Sandy; four step children, Jay B. Solley and wife Betty of Big Pine Key, FL, Yvonne Parry of Grampian, Sidney Solley and Cara of Niagara Falls, NY and Roscoe Solley and Grace of Jonesboro, GA; seven step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. (Harman) McCartney on October 7, 1990; an infant daughter Dellaphine Sharon; two brothers, William and Donald McCartney; and four sisters, Helen Guerriero, Elizabeth Padgett and two infants.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Grampian on Saturday at 11 AM with Father John Miller as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Saturday from 9-10 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois; the Curwensville Moose Lodge #268, 945 Bailor Dr., Curwensville; or to the Curwensville VFW Post 842, 19 River Street, Curwensville.
