Robert E. Shirey, 84
of Frenchville was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at his son's residence in Frenchville.
He was born on December 31, 1927 in Clearfield, a son of the late Blair and Mary (Maines) Shirey.
Mr. Shirey retired as a self-employed truck driver.
He was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, William B. Shirey and wife Barbara of Frenchville and Dennis L. Shirey and wife Cathy of Clearfield; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Voss of Clearfield and Bessie Funari of Frenchville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara E. (Voss) Shirey on January 18, 1992 and whom he wed September 3, 1945 in Clearfield. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen L. Swanson; grandson, Frederick Swanson; sister, Twila English; and brother, Richard Shirey.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 1 pm with Pastor Kathy Leigey officiating. Interment will follow in the Congress Hill Cemetery, LeContes Mills.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm and on Friday from Noon until 1 pm.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Dale United Methodist Church, in care of the Bigler United Methodist Charge, PO Box 416, Bigler, PA 16825.
